I have 5 birds, and after all the years of owning them I still struggle with an efficient means of cleaning up after them. I have hardwood floors, so there is always a bunch of seeds, feathers and poop to get up and it is a long process with a broom, vac cleaner, soap and water, mop, etc. I was just wondering if anyone out there has found an ingenious way to better deal with it...?

This is not really "clean up" but to prevent the mess I got something from the pet store called a cage net. You put it around the cage and it "holds" the feathers and poop and seed casings in and doesn't allow them to fall down on the floor. It is basically like a screen. Air flows through it, it's barely visible (unless you are staring at it) and the birds can still "see out" just like before. The only difference is it really (at least in our house) cuts down on the gross stuff that flies out of the cage. If you do buy one...I would suggest actually buying two, that way when one gets a bit gunked up you can just shake it out, wash it out and let it dry while the other one is doing the job of keeping the mess out of your house!

GOOD LUCK on finding a way to make clean up easier! I am always in search of that too!

Just put some pet spray on the floor and then apply 1 pint of water 10 minutes later. Then do that same thing anytime you need to clean up after your birds. If that dosn't put some soap in water. And to dry, after 1 hour you should dry with a paper towel or a napkin.

I went to the hardware store and got some screen and cut 6 inches put it aroun the cage and tied it on with bread ties and wala the mess stoped.
