I have a bantam hen that is just over 1 1/2 years old. She stopped laying when I moved her to a confined area. She has a small hen house with a roost to share with her Rooster buddy.

Often when you move a hen to a smaller space she will stop laying for a time for several reasons. First of all is she getting enough sunshine or as much sunshine as before? If not hens' laying and egg production runs off of daylight (just like humans and getting tired when it gets dark). Subconciously she may think its continually dusk and her bodily functions won't kick in. Also if she is in a smaller area can she still scratch and catch bugs? Protein and calcium are very important parts of egg prodution too. If she is not getting enough she won't produce. Ironically you can feed egg shells to get her calcium up and "roughage" which is meat of any kind to promote egg prodution.

must be many issues, some only take longer to mature many times that's around 6 to eight months yet each and every now and then they are older like a year or so. some breeds are extra valuable layers. RI Reds, Buffs, Rocks are all sturdy layers. they could be low on protein you may only could desire to purchase the 21% laying crumbles do superb for mine hens. additionally throw some oyster shell in there for them. are they in a heat coop regardless of if that's getting chilly the place you're then they could wait till at last spring to place a brilliant style of situations the chilly will decelerate or perhaps at situations provide up laying so in the event that they have not started yet they won't till at last spring regardless of if that's chilly. are they in a draft loose coop, regardless of in case you enable them to loose selection at nights they opt for a draft loose section the wind could additionally throw the laying off. are they under pressure is there something stressing them like a neighboring canine barking, cat chasing them, something stepping into them, stress will provide up the laying additionally. those are in simple terms some suggestions sturdy luck
