Hi, I really want to foster a parrot, so do you think I would be able to?

I am 12 years old and I was thinking about fostering a bird next summer when I won't have to worry about school. I will be 13 years old by then. I also have had experience with parrots. I own an African grey parrot, a green cheek conure, and 4 budgies. Also my mom has a lot of experience too with parrots and she has a goffin's cockatoo, a cockatiel, and a double yellow headed Amazon parrot. Also my mom could help me foster a bird too if I ever needed help. I also know which bird rescue I would foster a bird from, I adopted my African grey parrot from there and my mom adopted her double yellow headed amazon from there too. So do you think I would be able to foster a bird? If so, what are some different parrot species you recommend for me to foster?

Thanks!

As a parrot owner, and experience with animals, I would say yes, you should definitely foster a parrot, no doubt. So many people treat animals poorly, and don't care for them correctly. A lot of people can't care for birds because parrots have large personalities and problems can occur when parrots are treated properly. So many people don't even know the first things when owning parrots. Because you've had experience and are willing to dedicate your time and money to foster a parrot, I say by all means- go for it!! It's a great thing to do and you'll be helping a bird out, so why not? If you really want to do this and know you can do a good job and have fun, than I see no reason not to. You and your mom together sound like you could handle it, definitely.

As for parrot species for fostering, I would say whatever you think you could handle. Birds like conures work very well, but if you've had the experience you might enjoy fostering a bird such as a Macaw or African Grey. Whatever you think you could handle and take care of.

Parrots are such majestic animals=) I think you should go for it! I too, wish I could foster animals, but I want to run a parrot rescue when I'm older. Parrots are great animals and they too need a good home. I'm a parrot owner of green cheeked conure and a cockatiel. I think you should start out with smaller birds; green cheeks, cockatiels, parrotlets, lovebirds, budgies, quakers and so on. Then once you get the hang of it, start fostering larger parrots, like macaws, cockatoos, and so on.

Get your mom to sign the fostering sheets, so she'd be the foster parent, but you'd take care of them. Good luck and I hope I helped=)

nicely, it seems such as you already understand the solutions on your questions yet you desire somewhat interest too. Foster care is the final place you or the different toddler might desire to prefer to be. not in basic terms will it compound your "issues", that's going to create new ones, actual ones. determining of your mom, alcohol and your self into foster care, you will in basic terms finally end up with an identical issues yet in foster care as nicely. whilst you're incredibly worried approximately those issues, you already know what to do. do not do something silly like study your subject to that of young ones who have not have been given any selection approximately being compelled into the equipment. insurrection and young ones does not final invariably, it basically appears like it. it is not fuzzy and sugar lined, even if that's approximately as precise because it gets.

My guess is that, just because of your age, you would have to have your mother be the foster parent on paper anyway. But what a good thing for you to do!
