Budgies love to bath. There are many different methods of bathing your budgie. A few examples...

1. Bathing in a plastic bird bath tub (or small, shallow dish), a pie dish would work well.

2. If you have a mister, you can spray regular water above the birdie.

3. Bathing under the sink faucet. Make sure the pressure is low, the water lukewarm. Hold the budgie on you hand underneath the faucet, just beside the water.

After the bath, let your budgie air dry.

Not all budgies enjoy bathing. I've had some budgies that enjoyed it and others didn't want to have anything to do with water. You can put out a bird bath and see if your budgie is interested in bathing. If he is, that's good. If not, you can try to encourage him to bathe with sounds of running water. I have put on CD's of waterfalls and rain to get some of by budgies to bathe. Never force a budgie to bathe. If he doesn't like bathing, try spraying him with a water bottle. Once again, if he likes it that's good. If not, don't force it on him.

No. They will however, take baths themselves if they have a little bird bath. My mom had a cage for hers that had a transparent plastic thing attached to it - you filled the bottom with water and the bird would sometimes get in an splash around.
