I had a dusky conure named Ginger. She was so beautiful and I only had her for about 9 months. She started getting a lump on her belly and I thought it was just that she was reaching sexual maturity and might be producing an egg. Her behavior was normal, she didnt act sick. The lump never went away so I took her to the vet. They ran several tests on her and it turns out she had pollioma virus. Its a disease young birds can get. Her liver was swollen and full of liquid. That night on the way home from the vet she died in my hands. She was going to die already from the virus, but the shock from all the testing they did was too much for her to bare. I was hysterical. I loved Ginger very much. I know it is hard losing a pet that you adore, but I promise you that it gets easier with time. Every thing happens for a reason. If my bird hadnt died that night she would have gotten very ill from the virus and suffered for a while. I am glad she went quickly and didnt have to suffer through the virus. Perhaps your bird passing now prevented something worse from happening in the future. I know that my story doesn't ease your greif, but its been more than 2 years since my bird died and though I still miss her I know she is in a better place. Hang in there and I hope you find peace. Try to keep your mind occupied by spending time with friends, and loved ones. Maybe go see a funny movie. Try to have a good day sweetie.

Honey if you are hurting so badly. It couldn't have been your fault that your bird died I juast prayed to the Lord to help you heal and feel better. I would get another I know it won't take the place of the other but it will give you something to distact you from feeling so blue. God bless you. Have a good cry if it will help. I know it helps me when I am feeling blue.

No, no one can MAKE you feel better. I had a bird die while I was on vacation this summer. I came home to find her dead and it was extremely traumatic. She had been ill, on medication, and we thought she was better. :(
I had a necropsy (bird autopsy) done to make sure she didn't die of something contagious (I have 5 other birds) and now I have her ashes with the ashes of my other bird who died 10 years ago. It hurts to lose anything you love. Go ahead and cry and grieve and be sad for your feathered friend. Then go and kiss and cuddle your other birds.

Well it might have made you feel better if you cooked and ate him just before he died. You know, while he was agonizing. Now that he's dead I wouldn't touch him if I were you.
But to make you feel better, just eat the other 3 birds you have left, that should spare you the sight of seing them die for some other reason, and this way you can be sure it's your fault. ;)

Once upon a time there were two globs of muffin mix in an oven.
A human turned up the heat and prepared to bake them.
The first glob shreiked and cried, "The oven is on! We're going to die!"
The second yelled "Ah! A talking muffin!"

birds pass on naturally no matter what we do, death is just another part of life, getting another bird may not seem like the right idea right now but it will be better in the long run

Hey, God has a plan for everything including animals. Pets become part of your life so it does hurt when something happens to them. Do not feel like it's your fault.

hey... i understand, it must be very painful. you need to grieve over your pet, so don't try to hold back your sadness over the loss and do what you need to let it out (e.g. crying, writting, talking to others, praying, etc). Even the feelings of guilt can be normal, but just realise that even if somehow it was your fault you never meant for this to happen and so you shouldn't blame yourself for it.

Well, you can get another one and make a sketchbook about him and it aint your fault that he died it was probably something else that made him die. AND STOP GOING TO THINGS ABOUT BIRDS! IT REMINDS YOU TOO EASILY!

to feel better, think that it is normal that it hurts, and that eventually, someday you'll start feeling better, 'cause life is horribly long, and you can't wine around about your birdie forever.
