How long does it take a duck to fully mature?

My mom got me ducklings for easter and I wanted to know how long it took for them to mature.

They will reach near adult size by 4 to 7 months of age. Ducklings are adorable babies but grow up fast. To keep them friendly play with and handle them A LOT, give them treats of wheat or whole grain bread, grass, stuff like that. Handle them so they are used to it and will allow you to handle them as adults.



Even though they won't be cute fuzzy babies ducks can make awesome pets. Give them a kiddie pool to play in and a decent size pen to fool in outside, as well as a small shelter. If you have them outside at night you'll need to make sure they will be safe from predators like coyotes and owls. It would be good to have a little coop that you can lock them in at night and release them in the morning so that you know they are secure.

You know,I'm a duck fan and if you want to be responsibile for the ducklings the best way to handle them is to make a nest and put them in the nest and don't forget to feed them.

It depends what breed they are.



The most common are Pekin ducks, which mature in one month. Other breeds take from one month up to three or four months.



What do you plan to do with them when they grow up? Dropping them off at a local pond is a death sentence for domestic ducks (most can't find their own food, or fly), please tell me you have a farmer lined up to take them?

Very fast! About 4 months till the're fully grown, they will stop being cute fluffy and yellow after just a couple of weeks though. Sorry to dissapoint.

DUCKLINGS LOOK ADULT AT 4 MONTHS BELIEVE IT OR NOT, WHEN THEY ARE 6 MONTHS THEY CAN LAY EGGS AT THAT TIME.
