I was looking at a budgie when i saw those cute little zebra finches. Which one should i get? Which one do you prefer? Why? Could you tell me a little about whichever bird you think is best??
Also if there is any other kind that you like[Keep in mind that i am looking in the $15-$30 range and aren't a HUGE hassle to take care of]
Thanks SOOOO MUCH!

I now have 3 parakeets(budgies) and i really like them so far. I've heard that the finches are less sociable when it comes to humans but don't quote me. I think the budgies are prettier and come in so many different colors and stuff. LOL We sound somewhat alike in what we're looking for in a bird as when i bought my birds i was looking for something cheap, friendly and low maintenance. So I think you should go with the budgie. Also I think there is more information about budgies readily available in the library, internet etc. should you have any questions. Look at some youtube videos to help you decide. There you can see each birds interaction and stuff!! Good Luck!

Those are probably the only birds in your price reange. Budgie would make a better pet, concidering that finches aren't always interested in human interaction. Budgies (budgerigars) are an extremely popular pet bird, and for good reason. These small parrots make delightful pets, and are usually friendly and easy to tame. While they can sometimes be difficult to understand, they are quite capable of mimicking speech.

Budgies are sometimes also called parakeets (specifically shell parakeets) as they are members of the parakeet family. There are also two types of budgies - the American budgie or parakeet, and the English budgie. The American variety is the one most commonly found in pet stores, while type often seen in exhibitions and shows is the English budgie. English budgies are larger and have a different appearance than American budgies, but all budgies belong to the same species, Melopsittacus undulatus.

It depends what you are looking for in a pet bird. Finches are pretty and nice to watch, but don't really interact with humans much. You should also keep more than one, they do better in a flock. Budgies are awesome little birds, very friendly, intelligent, and bond really well with humans. They can also be taught to talk. They love to come out of their cages and will sit on you and play with you. They do need toys and a lot of attention to keep them happy. I've had 3 budgies (I now have a larger parrot) and would definately recommend them.
