My three year old cockatiel was perfectly fine yesterday. Today when I took him out for a flight, he fell downwards and crashed into the wall. Picking him up, I realized that he was holding his right wing away from his body. He is normally a very strong flier, and is able to fly around for several minutes without tiring. There is no bleeding, and he is able to preen it, but he is still tucking it away from his body and screaming in pain. I can't take him to an Avian vet because the nearest one is a couple hours away. I have normally cured all his problems at home(blood feather, bleeding, etc.) but I am unsure what the problem is. Help!

It doesn't matter how far away the vet is. If he is screaming in pain and holding his wing away from his body, than you can be almost positive his wing is broken! There's nothing you can do yourself if his wing is broken. If your arm was broken, you couldn't expect your mother to put it back together. Please take your teil to the vet!

the main recent information skill that clipping a chicken's flights isn't a competent thought. You wrote: "whilst he in simple terms began to fly, he might land interior the incorrect aspects and harm his wing and one or two times broke some feathers on it." as quickly as he learns a thank you to fly expertly (and this might take a number of months) you may, in case you nonetheless wish, clip his flights lower back a splash. i'm scripting this below the thought that he's at present clipped, of direction. lower back, that's his being an green, uncoordinated and "mutilated" (clipped) flying device it fairly is in charge for the crash-landings. there is not something extra organic for birds than flight: it provides them self-self assurance, and the information demonstrates that flighted birds exhibit a ways fewer behavioral problems.

this actually sounds like a broken wing. He could have broken it without you knowing it. I would take the drive to get him to a vet.
