If you were here in the USA I could help you, but you aren't so my advise is to search for Bird groups online in the UK and join afew. They are experienced bird people and would make the best home for your bird -BUT do say this is a pet bird and NOT a breeder. Also, make a list of what the birds eats,his likes and dis likes, bed time and sleep hours,etc. Also, if you think you have found the right home for your bird, before you hand him over tell them you first want to make an in home visit. If they refuse, then you know it wasn't the good home you want for your bird. People lie when they want a cheap or free bird! Bird Broker's are always on the prowl for birds too, so be careful! Also there is a scam online - they tell you they will buy your bird for your price-and they will send a person to pick up the bird and will send youa cashiers check. DON'T Fall for this, is a scam you lose the bird and never see a dime!!!! Local newspaper ad's can find buyer's also, but again, be careful and get their phone # and address, then check them out before you go further. Good Luck. There are good homes for our feathered friends, just gotta find the right one.

How old is your parrot? I live in WV and am looking for a Congo. I also have a Timneh. But you can go to this site and there is a spot at the bottom for breeders, and you can post your bird for sale there. I am the webmaster on it, so I'll allow it. It's a place where people go for info on parrots so it would be a good spot for it.

A lot of people including myself use www.kijiji.com for bird postings. You will see people on that site selling their african grey parrots.

I would try to sell it through family/friends, or hopefully someone local to you.Maybe advertise at your local pet store,local paper,sometimes local shops like newsagents will place an add in their window for a small fee.It would be easier for you to keep tabs on your bird if kept local. Please do not GIVE your bird away!!! Someone who has to pay the correct rate for a pet,usually takes better care of them. Free pets are too often sold on to goodness knows who, just for the cash.Please take the time/care to ensure your bird goes to the best home you can.Good luck in your new flat/job...
