NO, do not feed them..let their parent feed them, leave them be, they are being cared for. If you are continually getting close to the nest to check on them or the parent, YOU could be keeping the parent from feeding. Stay away from the nest and let them be..it is not your job.

Edit: the only way they are going to die is if YOU take them out of the nest...unless you sit there watching from a hidden spot every waking hour of the day, you really have NO idea how often the mom is coming to feed. Also, vets don't treat wild birds..they are not licensed to, it would be against the law for you to disturb this nest in ANY way, and illegal for a vet to have these birds in their possession. Your mom has already told you the parent is still feeding so LET IT BE!

Oh darn! i became hoping issues have been going stable. The tongue element is confusing, for specific. i might advise you no longer attempt to feed the toddler---the opening to the birds windpipe (trachea) is placed on the backside of the tongue, this beginning is named a glottis. that is fairly worry-free to have fluid bypass into the glottis & down the windpipe in case you're trying at hand-feed any toddler chicken. you already know once you swallow liquid that is going "down the incorrect pipe"? that's what happens to the chicken different than they are in a position to't cough and get it out. they're going to enhance aspiration pneumonia and die. regrettably it feels like this chick might have a respiration difficulty i might enable the mum proceed her artwork yet i could be sorely tempted to purpose and save the tounge moistened. in case you may call a rehab middle, describe the area and ask in the event that they think of they are in a position to do something you may experience extra perfect. I nonetheless say you & your loved ones have been super to take this on. toddler birds are very fragile & if this one does not stay to tell the story the mum will mate back & start up elevating yet another brood. they do no longer fly around being unhappy, they simply bypass on w hummingbird company.

aww You're very kind! And how lucky! What I would do to see baby hummingbirds, lol, they're so cute.

Sorry I don't know the best ways to deal with the situation, but I suggest you ring up a vet and ask them about it, they usually know what to do. Since you just inquire over the phone it won't cost a thing. Or you can try the animal rescue team or something and inquire about it too.

Best of luck!

EDIT: I see you're worried about the vet coming to pick them up... that possibility is a nuisance I see. You could call up the professionals on a public phone and not tell them your address, just inquire about what to do in this situation.

For food, you can boil some water and put some sugar into it. You can set it out underneath the tree, but don't get too close because the mother hummingbird might be hiding like a ninja nad dive-bomb you. Their mother probably knows what to do. Hope this helps!

There is not to much you can do. If you try to feed them and endup touching them the mother will not have anything to do with them and they will die.
